Searching for Meaning

Why are we here?

No, I'm not asking that big philosophical question about the meaning of life. I'm talking about university, college. To me, there is two reasons I'm here.

I'm not here to make a better life for myself. My life is already pretty good. No, I'm here to keep my life good. I know that if I don't get at least a bachelors degree, my life is going to get so much more difficult. I think I could manage to be happy with it, but I know I'll be better off for this.

So that was the selfish reason. The other reason I'm here is because I want to make a contribution to the world. Has anyone ever read An Abundance of Katherines by John Greene? Sometimes, I feel like the main character in that book. (The book was amazing too! Also read Looking for Alaska by the same guy.) In my head, the most sensible path making an impact on the world is through college.

I can't speak for everyone else in college, but this is what is true for me. Leave a comment and tell me why you are in college, or why you went to college.

Peace out.
